Hardstamp is built local-first. The short version: your data stays on your phone. We don't have accounts, we don't have servers that hold your work, and we never upload your photos, videos, or customer information to us.
On your device, only. There are no Hardstamp servers holding your content, there is no account to create, and nothing you capture is ever sent to us.
The app makes two network requests to our own domain hardstamp-site.vercel.app, and neither one sends any of your data:
The app also uses two outside services: one for anonymous usage analytics and one for crash reports.
Anonymous usage analytics (TelemetryDeck). The app uses TelemetryDeck to count which features are used and how often — app opens, captures, reports sent, paywall views, purchases, backups, and shares. It uses a random identifier generated on your device that is not linked to your name, email, or Apple ID. It never records customer names, job details, photos, videos, file names, or hashes.
Crash and error reporting (Sentry). When the app crashes or hits an error, it uses Sentry to send us the technical details, including the app version, iOS version, and device model. Personal details are stripped on your device before anything is sent, and IP addresses are not stored.
What they are not used for. Neither service is used for advertising, and neither is sold or shared with data brokers. There is no tracking across other apps or websites. Your photos, videos, customer records, and job data never leave your phone, except to your own private iCloud when you turn on iCloud backup. A capture's GPS coordinates are the one exception, and they go only to Apple, as described next.
Street names and maps (Apple). The app sends a capture's GPS coordinates to two Apple services:
Those coordinates go to Apple — not to Home Run Unit LLC, and not to any advertiser or data broker. The coordinates themselves are stored with the capture on your device and, if you turn on iCloud backup, in your own iCloud.
When you enter a customer's name, address, or phone number, you are the data controller for that information. You should have your customer's consent to photograph the work site and to keep their details in the app.
Hardstamp can back your job files up to iCloud. It is off by default and entirely optional — you turn it on in Settings.
It goes to your own iCloud, and nowhere else. Backups are written to the private database of your personal iCloud account, in a storage area reserved for this app. They use your iCloud storage allowance. Hardstamp has no servers, so there is no copy of your evidence anywhere we could read, and we cannot see your backups.
What a backup contains. Each backup is a dated snapshot of your live records — customers, jobs, captures and signatures, including the stamp details (time, time source, GPS, job address). For every photo and video it includes a compressed stamped copy (about 400 KB each) so a restore always brings back readable, stamped evidence. Full-resolution originals and video files are included only if you switch on “Include full-size photos & videos”, and then only over Wi-Fi. Items you have deleted are not backed up.
Restoring. Restoring is always something you choose to do: you pick a backup by date, then restore everything, one customer, or single items. It merges — nothing already on your phone is overwritten. This is a backup, not a sync: Hardstamp does not continuously mirror your phone and does not copy data between devices on its own.
If your iCloud is full, the backup stops and the app tells you plainly, with a count of what did not get backed up. Apple does not let an app read how much iCloud space you have left, so Hardstamp reports this when it happens rather than guessing beforehand.
To stop using it, switch off iCloud backup in Settings. To remove backups already made, you can delete them from within the app, or manage this app's iCloud data in your iPhone's Settings under your Apple Account.
You can delete captures and customers inside the app. A deleted item moves to Recently Deleted, where it stays for 30 days so you can restore it, and is then permanently removed — the record and its files are deleted from your device on a schedule. You can also delete an item immediately from Recently Deleted. Deleting the Hardstamp app from your phone deletes all of its data. Because your data lives only on your device, there is nothing for us to delete on our end.
Hardstamp is a tool for working professionals and is not directed at children.
If we change this policy we'll update the effective date above and, for material changes, note it in the app.
